A new update improves precision by showing only the closest sector matches first
We’ve rolled out a new update to the Exploding Trends dashboard that makes sector filtering more precise by default. Instead of showing a broad mix of loosely related categories, the platform now prioritizes and displays only the most similar sector matches when a filter is applied.
If you want to expand results, you can still toggle to view additional sector matches, but the default experience is now optimized for accuracy.
Why This Matters
Previously, sector filtering could include trends that were only partially related, creating noise and making it harder to identify true signals.
With this update:
Food & Beverage results actually reflect food trends
Consumer Products trends stay within category
Less time is spent filtering out irrelevant data
This is especially important for users looking to analyze trends within a very specific vertical.
Using It for TikTok Trend Discovery
This update is particularly powerful when paired with TikTok Hashtag data.
To find exploding trends in a specific sector:
Select Data Type: TikTok Hashtags
Choose a Sector (e.g., Food & Beverage)
Keep the default setting (1st sector match)
Sort by Outlier Score
You’ll now see a cleaner, more relevant set of trends that are actually gaining traction within that category.
Real Impact
For example, when filtering Food & Beverage, the results now surface:
Viral dishes and ingredients
Emerging food brands
Rapidly growing food-related hashtags
All without unrelated trends cluttering the results.
